Sipadan Island as one of the world top ten dive site and premier tourist destination, finding the right sort of accomodation to suit your taste and pocket is easy.

At this moment, Sipadan Island is not allowed any tourist to stay overnight. Tourists are adviced to stay at Semporna Town (Mainland jetty to Sipadan Island) or Mabul Island.

If you like to experience the small island lifestyle, (what I mean small island is there are no motorcycle or car on the island and we could walk around the island in less than 30mins.) then Mabul Island is the right choice.

To stay at Mabul or Semporna, you will have variety of choices...from luxury to budget accomodation. And homestay providing accomodation from middle range to budget range.

If you are planning to visit Sipadan, homestay is an option for providing accomodation at Semporna and Mabul Island but also arranging all the activities in that area...such as diving, snokerling, islands hopping and etc.

hi sunny,
yes...it is very nice place for photography...if you like diving then you should have diving camera case....the underwater creatures are magnificient...
ABout the budget..it's depends on what is your activities...stay overnight is cheap...but if you choose diving then it will be higher....the price is standardize over there...but you will have good deal ifyou in big group and book earlier...

yes...we visited...kapalai too...3 islands in total....Sipadan, Kapalai and Mabul..
Kapalai is the smallest island.....only one resort over there..and nothing else....you could view below link photos from Kapalai

hmmm....the water is clear and transparent....
if you are on the shallow part of the Kapalai island..you would not see much sea creatures...but if you are on the sea cliff on the Kapalai island...you will see lots of sea creatures....many many types of fishes....we met with 5 turtles....

it's depends on your requirements...
diving or snokerling or just stay overnight....and more people will be cheaper..

hi mclchan,
If your objective is to take photos.....what kind of photos you would like to take?? Under water photos?? Nice sceneray? Photo on the island???
If you are happen at Semporna (the jetty to Sipadan), you could try the Chinese Restaurant there....you would find something special.....And if you like to take photos...i would recommend you should visit Sipadan Island.....it is really top 10 dive site in the world.....
About the accomodation, if you like to experience to stay above the sea, then you could try the Arung Hayat homestay at Mabul Island...the price is cheap and very clean....but you could not expect it is 5 stars hotel....

yes...indeed...Sipadan is very nice place..i will recommend you do diving there too....and it is really nice to dive..for me...i do not have the diving course and feel regret. hehe
